Acting on Instinct
As researchers and headhunters, actors bring a unique and highly attractive
range of attributes to bear. Polished and confident communicators, they
quickly adapt to the social and cultural characteristics of your market
sector, gaining the trust of all those they speak with. Mastery of the
brief comes naturally to those who spend much of their time learning scripts,
whilst the natural defences most actors use to isolate themselves from
the characters they portray allows them to overcome one of the most common
problems in recruitment research and headhunting: rejection! Furthermore
every actor learns early in his or her career to master the skills of
"tele-networking" simply in order to survive in the unstructured world
of the arts, and these skills transfer well.
On a purely commercial level, actors, whose primary focus is upon pursuing
a career in the arts, represent exceptional value-for-money: it is rare
to find such intelligent, well-educated staff with such a range of attributes
at such a relatively low price-point in the labour market.
So, well-bred horses, but how to harness them?
